Prepare for your day

What the day looks like

  • The morning of your ice fishing hut rental you will check in and receive ONE free parking permit at R&R Outdoors located at 136 Erie Blvd, Long Point (Port Rowan on some GPS).  Additional parking is available for a fee near the access in another parking area.
  • Check-in at R&R Outdoors begins at 7am.  You may be later than your scheduled appointment time to meet the guides on the ice,  however you must be to R&R Outdoors no later than 11am for check-in.
  • Upon check in everyone in your party will be required to provide a completed waiver, you can find by these by clicking here
  • After you check in at R&R Outdoors you will receive Directions to the ice access.
  • Upon arrival gather your things, dress in warm, waterproof layers of clothing. 
  • Use washroom at ice access.  
  • Proceed down the path to the area on the ice where a guide will meet you.  The guides will pick you up from the ice access located off the very end of Rogers Ave.
  • You will then be taken to the ice huts via a snowmobile drawn sleigh complete with padded seating.
  • An insulated ice fishing hut heated with propane heaters complete with bench seating awaits.
  • Holes are pre-augured for you and a slush scoop is provided for you to maintain the holes through the day (please ensure slush is not thrown on the hut floor).  Should you prefer fishing outside the guide will auger a hole outside (leave your personal augers home).
  • Minnows are at the ice hut upon your arrival, no need to bring a bucket, or minnow scoop.
  • A propane cooking stove with propane is provided, bring a pot or pan if you want to prepare a meal.  
  • The guides will check on you several times throughout the day
  • Groups start coming off at 3:30pm.  The last group will come off no later than 4:30pm, you can arrange with a guide the day of to come off sooner.  
  • WASHROOMS - Upon arrival you should make use the restroom we provide at the access when you arrive in the morning.  There is also a washroom on the ice in the middle of the ice huts (weather dependant).  

what to bring

  • Dress in warm layers of clothing
  • Valid Fishing Licence  you can purchase online (if required)
  • Pan and utensils if you choose to cook up a hot lunch
  • Lighter to light the cooking stove and heater 
  • Snacks and drinks
  • Garbage bag, ALL that you bring must go home with you
  • Helmet for anyone to small for an adult size
  • Something to transport your catch home in (pail or bag)
  • Ice Fishing Poles (18-24" rods are ideal) We do not offer rentals
  • Pliers in case you catch a toothy Pike
  • Fishing Tackle; hooks, sinkers, lures (You can find everything you will need for the day at R&R Outdoors)
